Shakti Priya came to Kashi during the summer of 2006 for the detox. She was immediately struck by the powerfully affecting detox practices and by the Kashi community. She became a serious yoga student in 2008, falling in love with Kali Natha yoga and the teachings of Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati. At this time, she also began an in depth practice of Anusara yoga, becoming adept in alignment based principles, which continue to inform her teaching.
Shakti Priya completed classical yoga teacher training in 2010. She began teaching immediately after graduating, and also completed a two year apprenticeship, a period of intense study and growth. She is serving as an assistant to the Classical Yoga Teacher Training program since 2011. She is a student of Kashi’s 500-hour Kali Natha yoga teacher traning. She is also a reiki master and Ayurvedic consultant through Kashi’s wellness center programs.
Shakti Priya feels that teaching is a gift. It is her deepest joy to share what she has learned from her amazing teachers and it is her greatest happiness to witnesses her students being positively impacted. She currently teaches prenatal, beginners, and multilevel yoga at Kashi. She also leads private and small group classes using the combined wisdom and practices of yoga, reiki, Ayurveda and therapeutic body work.
