We have three major annual fundraising events to support our community service efforts, which include our Street Meals and KidsArt programs.
Florida and Atlanta Ashrams Fundraiser
Once a year the Kashi Atlanta and Kashi Florida ashrams first come together in Atlanta to create a heart-filled celebration honoring the bhakti essence of our lineage and raising money for our ashram. The weekend includes great food, yoga, Ma’s teachings, community and more.
The Great Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off
In this annual Fall event, cooks and tasters come together for our fundraising efforts. All you need is a great vegetarian chili or cornbread recipe to enter the contest. The best of each is awarded the Golden Ladle as voted by the hungry masses.
The Kashi Atlanta Yogathon
An annual special two-hour Maha Yoga class led by Swami Jaya Devi with live kirtan by the Kashi Atlanta Kirtan Wallahs raises funds for our service programs.
Throughout the year, we have a number of free or donation-based events for our community, some of which include the opportunity to engage in seva (selfless service).
Holiday Street Meals
Every December, we accept donations of backpacks, blankets, toiletries, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, chapsticks, cough drops, holiday candy and homemade cookies for Atlanta’s homeless. On a Friday night we start with an explosion of organized chaos as we stuff the backpacks. Many children and adults from our community come together to create 500 packages which are assembled in record time. The following day, Saturday, we gather and caravan to the shelter decked in Christmas hats, singing Christmas carols and distributing the backpacks and blankets.
Kashi Atlanta Movie Night is a recent addition to our community events. Everyone is invited to a free movie screening.
Caring for our ashram is an important part of spiritual growth. Seva Sundays are typically held the weeks leading up to a big event at Kashi Atlanta. A variety of opportunities exist to participate in making our ashram beautiful. It’s a great way to help the ashram and get to know others in the community.
Held several times throughout the year, our community dinners are another way to bring everyone together, with the proceeds going to fund Kashi Atlanta’s service programs.
Kirtan Concerts with the Kashi Kirtan Wallahs
Several times a year our Kirtan Wallahs are hosting a magical night of chanting kirtan. Proceeds from these concerts go either towards our service programs or are used to upgrade and maintain the Wallah’s instruments and equipment.
Kashi Atlanta is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We will provide a letter you can use for tax purposes so you can write off your donation!
