We have all heard the phrase “movement heals.” Whether it be yoga, dance, swimming, running or any other form of physical activity, movement has the profound ability to nourish our spirit, heal emotional trauma and help us process the joys and challenges of life.
In this movement workshop, we will explore a variety of methods to harness the natural, organic movements that are innate within our bodies. We will tap into our individual and collective imaginations and our bodies’ own personal histories to find self expression, freedom and resolution. We will play with imagery, internal and external impulses, memory and music as vehicles to access movement both as individuals and as a group. We will offer support and encouragement to one another as we each explore ways of expressing ourselves through movement.
We welcome and encourage ALL people to participate in our movement workshop.
This is not a dance workshop, so having a background in dance is not expected or necessarily even helpful!
Having an open mind and a willingness to let go of inhibitions and judgments IS essential. It is totally OK and normal to feel vulnerable about moving your body. Just bring your whole self with you and let’s see what happens.
