Learn Sanskrit to Deepen Your Yoga Practice (and Teaching)

Thursday, February 27 · 6:00 pm — 9:00 pm with Amala Kappenstein

Learn how to read and properly pronounce your favorite Sanskrit mantras, sutras and yoga poses in their original form, without having to rely on the often vague or incorrect English transliterations.

The workshop will give an overview of reading, writing and pronunciation of the Devanāgarī alphabet, as well as common Sanskrit words and phrases in the context of Yoga. We will read and write the names of short mantras, as well as the names of deities and yoga poses. You will also get an opportunity to write your name in Devanāgarī.

The course includes a brief lecture about the origin and history of the Sanskrit language and the Devanāgarī writing system, as well as extensive handouts.
