Kali Natha Yoga Gems to Support a Healthy Metabolism

Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati’s spiritual journey started with a yoga class at a Jack LaLane fitness center in the 70s in Brooklyn, NY. She heard there was this breath that helped you to lose weight. One round of the breath dropped one pound, so Ma grew excited and curious, and began to increase her reps. Before you know it, all that breath work sparked her inner awakening to the Divine!

Decades (and several dress sizes) later, Ma created and shared Kali Natha Yoga, a root yoga to support every system – physical or otherwise – of the body, and to create a wonderful feeling of accomplishment in the students who practice it.

Peppered throughout Kali Natha Yoga, Ma includes short practices she called “gems”. Just in time for the end-of-summer detox, this workshop highlights some of the gems Ma handed down which are dedicated to balancing and supporting a healthy metabolism. We’ll practice a yoga asana series that features these gems, Ma’s asana sequence called Serpent Power Kundalini Rising, as well as practice not one, but TWO of those weight loss breaths!

This workshop is a body-positive and real practice for anyone curious about yoga’s power to unlock the body’s optimal ability at every size.
