Devaki Jaya first discovered and started exploring the teachings of yoga and meditation in the aftermath of an intense breakup. By putting into practice the tools of yoga and meditation, her heart began to heal. Moving into a yogic path, she found herself growing into her true self and wanting to share her love of the yoga practices with others. Devaki’s journey into the depths of yoga and meditation also led her into a path of wholeness. She now enjoys sharing the benefits of yoga with others on this path.
As a Libra, Devaki is a seeker of balance and loves to teach the essence of Shiva/Shakti, the dance between stillness and movement to her students. Recently, Devaki began collaborating with the Kashi Kirtan Wallas to provide an extended restorative yoga class that incorporates live music into the practice. The healing vibrations through drumming and chanting assist students in a deeper experience of relaxation and meditation.
Devaki has been a student of Swami Jaya Devi and Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati since 2005 and has resided at Kashi Atlanta Ashram since February 2008. She has graduated twice from Kashi Atlanta’s Classical Yoga Teacher Training and now serves as one of the senior teachers assisting in the development of new teachers. She also completed the 200 Hour Kali Natha Yoga Teacher Training at Kashi Ashram in Sebastian, FL in 2008, 2009, and 2010. In January 2011 she began the 500 hour RYT Kali Natha Yoga Teacher Training program and graduated in October 2014. She has also completed the Relax and Renew ®: Learning to Teach Restorative Yoga with Judith Lasater in May 2011. She is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
Devaki teaches Restorative Yoga on Sundays at 6pm and would love to have you join her on the mat!
