Glowing from Kashi's Spring Ten Day Yoga Detox

On Friday, May 11, 67 yogis of all levels gathered to begin Kashi's Ten Day Yoga Detox. Last year, Kashi's Yoga Detox was voted Best Mind, Body, Spirit Rejuvenation by Creative Loafing Magazine in its Best of Atlanta edition.

During the opening session, Jaya Devi taught participants how to determine their ayurvedic constitution, and what foods to choose based on their constitution. She also guided students through each of the upcoming ten days in detail, teaching them how to do each cleanse and discussing the benefits of each one.

Six days later, participants in Kashi's Ten Day Yoga Detox broke their three day juice fast with a traditional Sikh Lungar. Yogis sat in rows facing each other, discussing their healing experiences with the first six days of the Yoga Detox, while they were served a light meal of vegetable broth and Indian rice by Kashi members. They left nourished by the food, conversation and love they shared during the meal.

On Day 10, Jaya Devi and the Yoga Detox participants met for a closing session to discuss how to keep their bodies, minds and spirits clean and healthy. Jaya Devi addressed various specific health concerns, such as how to continue to lose weight, improve digestion, maintain energy, etc. Jaya Devi also guided students through various ayurvedic pressure points that help reset the systems of the body and flow of prana.

Everyone left light, healthy, and rejuvenated and looking fabulous.

Here are quotes from students of this Spring's Ten Day Yoga Detox:

"Fabulous as usual. Each Detox is better and better keeps it fresh for us detox junkies. All the practices are geared to taking us in. I felt like I truly got back in touch with my body and the simplicity of it brought me closer to my heart."S.M.

"Awesome! Of all the detoxes that I have completed, this was the easiest, most thorough and fulfilling. The yoga was incredible and the support was beautiful. Thanks a lot!." — J. M.

"I started with great resistance and fear of what I was giving up, my caffeine primarily, and ending feeling strong and free and, of all things, with some humor. It was excellent – the completeness of the information, particularly for a first timer, the yoga classes, the incredible massage, the email support and the generous spirit of the teachers. Thank You! I’m grateful." — L.W.

"I lost 10 lbs! I feel lighter, more alert. The structure provided made it much easier to be disciplined than if I were doing this on my own. It was very intense, and this engaged my attention completely. It may constitute something of a rebirth for me in terms of knowing my body, mind and spirit. The 10 day experience of daily yoga, daily meditation and conscious food consumption will hopefully morph into something permanent." — C.B.

"Daily emails were a great touch. Having so many classes to choose from made doing yoga every day possible in a changing schedule. It was a good opportunity to experience many of the Kashi Atlanta instructors." — J.C.

"This is my fourth Detox in a row. This time I was able to relax and go much deeper. I have lost 30 lbs since the first Detox. I lose about 8 pounds each time. It feels great to let go of the prison of my sugar habit." — S.H.

"Excellent! It was my second Detox and it didn’t feel repetitive. It ws still fresh, hard, wonderful!" — J.H.
